Peace Rally

The Association of South Jackson Neighborhoods (ASJN) participated in the 2nd Peace Rally held September 21, 2021 at Cash Savers on McDowell Road.  The purpose of the peace rally is to bring the Jackson Police Department and the community together to fight crime.  As Assistant Chief of Police Joe Wade said, “We are the people and the people are the police.  We have about 1 percent of the population wreaking havoc in Jackson and it is up to all of us to unite to get rid of it.”

To get the crowd fired up and ready to go, Wingfield High School drumline got the crowd rocking. Delicious food was provided by Dominoes, Taco Bell and Cash Savers.

Attending the rally was Kenny Lewis-  Judge District 4,  Tiny Harris Deputy Chief of Patrol Operation, SGT Christian Vance - Precinct 1, Pastor Gregory DIvinity of New Vineyard Church, Cash Savers, Humana, Nfusion, Pastor Jacqueline Bowden of Tabernacle Ministries and Board members of ASJN.

Election campaigns represented were the Committee to Elect Marshand Crisler Sheriff, the Committee to Elect Eric T. Wales Sheriff, the Committee to Elect Tyree Jones Sheriff and the Committee to Elect Beverly Harris Williams Sheriff.  Each campaign was given 3 minutes to appeal to the people and ask for the opportunity to serve as Sheriff of Hinds County.
