New Partnerships Formed

Saturday, October 9, 2021 was a beautiful day to form new partnerships with some of our neighbors and continue ongoing partnerships with others.  For the past 3 years The Association of South Jackson Neighborhoods (ASJN) has partnered with the football teams of Forest Hill and Wingfield High Schools to pick up trash along our streets in South Jackson.  This past Saturday, the cheerleaders and staff of Wingfield High School, congregants of New Vineyard Church, New Jerusalem Church (Raymond Rd and Colonial Dr), residents of Elton Woods, Cedar Hills, Carriage Hills, Willowood, Leavellwoods, Brookhollow, local government officials and candidates for the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department and constables joined forces with ASJN to clean up South Jackson.

Cleanup crews were divided into six teams located in six different areas of South Jackson.  A total of 112 crews checked in at 7:30 and began removing trash from the roadways at 8.  Crews cleaned up along major roadways like Raymond Rd, Cooper Rd, Terry Rd, Lakeshore Dr, Maddox Rd, Daniel Lake Blvd, Highland Dr, Hospital Dr, Scanlon Dr, Flowers Dr, Colonial Dr, Shady Lane and Dorgan St.    The crews cleaned up miles of South Jackson from 8-12 noon and collected 175 bags of trash and litter that should be placed in a trash receptacle.

Residents are concerned with the aesthetics of the community and work diligently each month picking up trash that others have thoughtlessly thrown out the windows of their cars. It is the hope of ASJN that schools, businesses and residents will all join in to put trash in its proper place and make the community of Jackson once again a beautiful place to work, play and live.
