ASJN Mayoral Candidates Forum
Friday, May 23, 2025, the Association of South Jackson Neighborhoods (ASJN) hosted a forum of the remaining candidates to engage constituents at the Peggy Calhoun Community Center located on 4331 Will-O-Wood Blvd, Jackson, MS in conjunction with AMR and Southern Echo Incorporated.
The event allowed the remaining independent candidates to share their platforms, visions, strategies and plans for the City of Jackson. In addition to being asked a plethora of questions by the moderator and audience, they expressed their views on solving our city’s issues and working together with non- profits and council members. It is the organization’s purpose to collaborate with other nonprofit agencies, faith-based, and 501(c) 3 organizations to bring awareness to the issues that our various wards and communities are facing. Southern Echo, AMR and ASJN were the host organizations. None of the hosts can endorse a candidate, but we all are committed to making sure that the citizens get a chance to interact and ask questions of each and every one of them.
There were three candidates representing as independents and Mr. Von Anderson sitting in as a surrogate for Senator Horne, the democratic candidate ticket present to express their views and solutions for our South Jackson section of the city and their vision for the entire City of Jackson. All the candidates shared their visions and a brief plan of how they would address the minor and major issues facing our city. The forum started at 6:00 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. We would like to thank all those who came out and participated and listened to the candidates in person and watched on our Facebook live page.
